More than just a cricket ground

The Ambassador Cruise Line Ground is more than just a cricket ground, it is a multi-use venue available to hire all year round with a variety of event spaces.

The Ambassador Cruise Line Ground is situated in the heart of Chelmsford City Centre and is only a 10-minute walk from Chelmsford main line railway station and bus station, with multiple public transport services regularly stopping in the vicinity.  A ‘pay and display’ onsite car park is all available for supporters and members of the public.

We have six core event spaces available for hire that cater for all types of occasions - from networking events to exhibitions or birthday parties, life celebrations and seasonal dinners. A venue with a view, your guests simply will not forget.

The Scrutton Bland Premier Suite

'The Scrutton Bland Premier Suite’ can accommodate up to 150 guests, showcasing magnificent views of the pitch with bifold doors opening
up to its own private exterior balcony. The Suite also has a centrally placed private bar available for use.

Please note: The Scrutton Bland Premier Suite is accessed via an external stairway and does not have wheelchair access.

The Doug Insole Pavilion Room

‘The Doug Insole Pavilion’ can accommodate up to 120 guests. Showcasing spectacular floor-to-ceiling views of the ground, 
the Pavilion has bifold doors opening onto a private external benched seating area, reserved for Members only on a matchday. 
The Pavilion also has a private bar facility available for use.

The Pavilion is located at ground level, is fully accessible for all visitors (including wheelchair access) 
and is just a few steps away from our car park.

David Acfield Boardroom

The David Acfield Boardroom is ideal for small intimate meetings for up to 60 people. The first floor room within the Scrutton Bland Premier Suite has views overlooking the ground with access to an outside balcony area.

Please note this facility is not suitable for wheelchair users.

Executive Boxes

If you require a smaller sized room for a more intimate meeting or perhaps syndicate rooms for breakout areas, you can hire our Executive Boxes or The David Acfield Boardroom which can accommodate 1-40 people, all showcasing magnificent floor to ceiling views of the cricket pitch.

Prices Forbes Graham Gooch Indoor Cricket Centre

The Price Forbes Graham Gooch Indoor Cricket Centre is a large indoor sports hall style space that can be hired for indoor cricket net sessions, 5-a-side football, fitness training, yoga, pilates, meditation, faith groups, music practice and more!

Pitch Hire

The Ambassador Cruise Line Ground pitch is available for private hire for matches from April-September. Indoor room spaces, changing facilities, bars, and catering are also all available to complement your pitch booking. This is the perfect way to play like a pro with your friends, clients or colleagues and enjoy stepping in the footsteps of legends!

The main pitch can also be considered for other events such as an Outdoor Cinema Night (with the largest outdoor screen in the area), theatre/comedy performances and music concerts.

Shared Christmas Party Nights

Looking to book your next Christmas party? We host private and shared Christmas parties at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground throughout December.

Celebrate the festive season over a delicious three-course meal with tea, coffee and mince pies to finish. Live DJ entertainment will be provided throughout the evening!

We cater for all dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan
