If you are interested in umpiring at a high level, you will need to complete the ECB umpiring course so that you are part of the umpiring pathway.

There is a separate pathway for umpiring men’s games to women’s games and umpires can concentrate on one type of game or aim to move up the pathway in both.

After completing the ECB course, all new umpires are given a M6/W6 grading, which means a level 6 in both the men and women games.

The ECB has created a list of competences that umpires are expected to show at each level.
