Ben Allison signed his maiden professional contract with Essex in April 2019, making his debut in August of the same year, after being an ever-present in the Second XI and representing England at the Under 19 level.
The Colchester-born paceman got his chance for an extended run in the first team, opening the bowling on many occasions, in Essex’s semi-final run in the Royal London Cup in 2021, taking 7 wickets. This coming after he had scored a patient first half century earlier in the season, in a County Championship game against Durham.
Following the departure of overseas signing Mark Steketee and an injury to Jamie Porter, 2022 saw Allison take the place as the third seamer in the red ball side towards the end of the season. A decision that would return 12 wickets at an average of 13.4 across September also including his maiden First-Class five-wicket haul on the final day of the season, away at Northamptonshire.
