He brings with him a vast experience of playing T20 cricket around the world, including spells in the IPL (Kolkata Knight Riders), Big Bash (Sydney Thunder), and the Pakistan Super League (Islamabad United), where this year he hit the quickest century in the competition’s history.
Delport made his Essex debut against Middlesex at Lord’s on Thursday 18 July and followed this up a day later by achieving another record after he hit the Club’s fastest T20 century against Surrey at The Cloudfm County Ground. The milestone came off just 38 balls and he ended on 129 runs to stamp his mark on the Essex faithful on his home debut.
