Essex Eagles capped off a fine performance in the group stage of the Royal London One-Day Cup by defeating Kent Spitfires by 57 runs (D/L), however the result was relatively unimportant after already securing top spot in the South Group earlier in the day.
A single point was required going into the final match but after Somerset’s game against Middlesex was abandoned due to rain for most of the day at Lord’s, it meant the knockout stage fixtures were all settled by the interval at Canterbury.
Chris Silverwood spoke to Essex Cricket TV to give his immediate thoughts after the draw had been made on Sky Sports.
Essex Eagles will face Somerset or Nottinghamshire in the Semi-Finals, with the fixture taking place on Friday 16 June at The Cloudfm County Ground. Play will begin at 1:30pm and information on when you can purchase tickets will be available on Thursday (18 May) via www.https://https://essexcricket.org.uk/.
