Alastair Cook got up and running in Australia hitting 70 against a Cricket Australia XI in Townsville, Queensland. Runs have been tough to come by for the Essex opener so far in the tour, but he showed his class in the final warm up match of the tour with a good knock to reach the half century mark.
There is just one week to go until the Ashes gets underway in Brisbane and England’s all-time highest run scorer will be looking to replicate the form in the 2010-11 series that saw England lift the Urn on Australian soil.
