LIVE BLOG: ESSEX V SURREY

RESULT: Essex have won by an innings and 40 runs in their penultimate fixture of the season putting themselves 12 points clear at the top of the County Championship table. The home side dominated onwards from day 2 as the Essex pace attack ripped through Surrey in the first innings before Dan Lawrence and Ryan Ten Doeschate established a sizeable lead for Harmer to play with as he probed through a talented Surrey lineup on day 3. Essex will have little time to enjoy the victory however as they are off to finals day on Saturday before the season finale at Taunton. What an exciting week next week could be for Essex cricket!

16:42 Harmer continues to bowl from the River End and begins to deploy his variations in a bid to dislodge Morkel, even the rarely seen leg-spinner is tossed up, but sadly to no avail as of yet.
