With the on-going uncertainties surrounding the start of the cricket season, the Club are committed to bringing some joy to our Members, as well as supporting staff and the wider community.
Part of this support was an outreach campaign to the ‘Essex family’, which started this week by members of the First Team squad. They have been calling Members currently isolating during this difficult time with cricket chat and the 2019 success stories high on the list of discussion points!
The campaign has so far reached over 1,000 Members and the group has continued to grow each day with Anthony McGrath, former player John Childs and First Team scorer Tony Choat also offering their time to be involved.
Absolutely fabulous touch of class by @EssexCricket contacting their older members. My father is still beaming from his 30min chat with Tom Westley. Not sure he was expecting my 75 year old father to say the 1 thing he misses most about lock down is not be able to go to the gym!

Captain, Tom Westley said: “It’s been great to get involved in the outreach programme, and we’ve been blown away by the nice messages received following the calls.
“Many of those we’ve spoken to are either isolating on their own or as a couple in line with the Government advice, so I think they’ve appreciated the opportunity to speak about cricket, and share stories from last year.
“We will continue to help with these great projects and look forward to speaking with the Members in person once some normality returns and cricket is back in our lives.”
