Essex got their Women’s County T20 Group Seven campaign underway with an impressive six-wicket victory over their Suffolk counterparts at Bury St Edmunds Cricket Club.
Having taken the ball, five of the Essex attack were amongst the wickets, with Esmae Macgregor leading the way with two for 11 from her four-over spell as Suffolk were restricted to 76 for six. Imogen Sidhu was the pick of the hosts’ batters, scoring 13, while Emily Cunningham and skipper, Natalie Samuels both hit 12.
In response, Essex chased down their target with twenty-eight balls to spare. Catherine Dalton top-scored with 20 from the 22 balls she face, while Katherine Speed finished unbeaten on 16. Poppy Sidhu was the pick of the Sufflok bowlers, returning figures of two for 13 but her efforts prove to be in vain as the visitors took maximum points.
