Essex Development XI travel to Fakenham Cricket Club to take on Norfolk in the East of England Development Competition what will be their final outing of 2023.
The Eagles currently sit second in the six-team division on seven points, one off current leaders Cambridgeshire, with two points on offer for a victory.
Norfolk, meanwhile, are fourth with three points which, barring a remarkable net run rate swing, is likely to be the highest position the Lions are capable of finishing in.
Essex are the only unbeaten team in the competition, having seen off Suffolk, Hertfordshire, and – by just five runs in a thrillingly high-scoring match that saw a total of 643 runs posted by both sides – title rivals Cambridgeshire.
Haris Usman has led the way with the bat for the Eagles, scoring 153 runs at an average of 76.5 and with a top score of 138, made in that aforementioned thriller in Saffron Walden.
Meanwhile, Om Thakeria has been the joint-leading wicket taker in the competition as a whole so far, snaring nine scalps at an average of 10.33 and an economy rate of 3.85.
The clash with Norfolk is set to take place in the market town 25 miles north-west of Norwich on Sunday 10th September, with the first ball at 11:00am.
