Essex County Cricket Club announces Testimonial Year for Nick Browne in 2025

Essex County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that Nick Browne, one of the Club’s long-standing members of the Men’s First Team squad, will be honoured with a Testimonial Year in 2025.

This prestigious recognition celebrates Nick’s contribution to the Club, both on and off the field.

Nick Browne made his first-class debut in 2013 and quickly established himself as a cornerstone of Essex’s batting lineup alongside Alastair Cook.

Browne has played an important role in the Club’s successes, including two County Championship titles, in 2017 and 2019, and the Bob Willis Trophy win in 2020.

The opener was capped by the Club in 2015 after a stellar year with the bat that included him becoming the first player to score 1,000 Championship runs in a season since Ravi Bopara in 2008.

His service to the Club has earned him the respect of teammates, fans, and the wider cricketing community, and his Testimonial Year will also acknowledge his long association with South Woodford Cricket Club.

Nick said: “I’m incredibly honoured to receive this recognition from the Club that has been such a huge part of my life.”

“Essex is like family to me, and I’m looking forward to celebrating this milestone with everyone who has supported me throughout my career.”

The Testimonial Year will be marked by a series of events throughout 2025, providing fans and supporters an opportunity to celebrate Nick’s career while also raising funds for charities close to his heart.

Further details on the events and how fans can get involved will be announced in due course.

Essex County Cricket Club Chair, Anu Mohindru KC, said on behalf of the Club: “Nick Browne is a true Essex stalwart and has been a key figure in our successes over the last decade.

“His loyalty, hard work, and performances on the field have made him a role model for aspiring cricketers. The Testimonial Year is a fitting tribute to a player who has given so much to Essex Cricket.”

Anthony McGrath, Director of Cricket, added: “There are few members of the current squad more deserving of a Testimonial Year than Nick.

“His enormous contribution to the Club deserves recognition, and we are delighted as a playing squad and coaches to support the awarding of a Testimonial Year.”

Essex County Cricket Club invites Members, supporters, commercial partners, and the wider cricketing community to join in celebrating Nick Browne’s Testimonial Year and showing their appreciation for his career at the Club.

Proceeds from the Testimonial Year will be supporting several charities, including the Essex Cricket Foundation.
