Essex’s Australian duo of Peter Siddle and Adam Zampa fell to a 2-1 defeat to Virat Kohli’s India side in their three-game ODI series.
Australia won the first game at Sydney Cricket Ground last Saturday by 34 runs, with Siddle taking one wicket in his eight overs and Zampa missing out to Nathan Lyon as the specialist spinner.
India hit back in Adelaide three days later and levelled the series at one apiece. Again Zampa was unfortunate to miss out whilst Siddle was hit for 58 runs from him 8 overs without taking a wicket.
The winner takes all match took place earlier today (18/01/19) and this time Zampa got the nod. He didn’t disappoint and was only hit for 34 runs from his 10 overs, producing a very respectable economy rate of 3.40. Siddle made the early breakthrough and dismissed Rohit Sharma early on, but their efforts weren’t enough as India won by seven wickets, reaching their target of 231 runs in the final over.
