Robin Das and Will Buttleman both hit impressive centuries as Essex’s 2nd XI recorded a comfortable victory over Cambridge UCCE at Fenner’s.

Das hit 123 off 103 balls during a 145-minute stint in the middle. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter, Buttleman, finished unbeaten on 119 as Essex posted a sizable 316-4. Sivakumar was the pick of the Cambridge attack with 2/59.

Houillon’s 71 was the highlight of the Cambridge response. The hosts had reached 220-9 when the inclement weather conditions forced an early conclusion. Ben Allison, Jamal Richards and Luc Benkenstein each took two wickets apiece in an otherwise comfortable workout for the Essex youngsters.
