Paul Walter and Dan Lawrence will feature in the inaugural 2023 International League T20 (ILT20) competition, which takes place in Abu Dhabi early in the New Year.
Lawrence is coming off the back of the Abu Dhabi T20 with Deccan Gladiators and a stint in Miami for the US Open T20 competition where his Stallions side lifted the trophy. He will continue his jet-setting back in the UAE where he has signed for the Dubai Capitals, alongside his former Eagles teammate Ravi Bopara and Kent’s Fred Klaasen.
Walter will experience overseas franchise T20 cricket for the first time and has been signed by the Sharjah Warriors with Moeen Ali, Dawid Malan, Chris Woakes and Joe Denly.
He is back and fighting fit after a shoulder injury curtailed his season and will head to the UAE in January fresh from signing his new two-year contract extension with Essex.
Another familiar face involved in the competition is Club legend James Foster, Head Coach of the Desert Vipers.
The tournament takes place on 13 January – 12 February with matches staged in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Dubai Capitals will open the competition against the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders and the Essex pair will first face each other on Saturday 21 January.
Keep an eye on the Club’s social media channels for updates on their progress throughout the competition as we build up to the 2023 county season.
