Matt Dixon

In March 2016, Essex announced the signing of Matt Dixon, an Australian fast bowler with a British Passport who is available for all formats.

Dixon had good pedigree, representing Australia U17s & U19s in his short career to date. A right arm fast bowler, Dixon will add extra depth to a bowling attack. He played in the Perth Scorchers final group match of the Big Bash League, taking 3/32, including the wickets of Luke Wright & Kevin Pietersen.

The opening-bowler has been slightly on the periphery of the First XI squad since his arrival, but whenever given an opportunity in red or white-ball cricket he has shown his capabilities at the highest level.

Date of Birth: 12/06/92
Squad No: 30
Nationality:
Debut 2016
Capped
Role in Team: Bowler
Batting: Right-Hand
Bowling: Right-Arm Fast

Cricket Collective Awards

The Cricket Collective Awards are the annual celebration of the volunteers who go above and beyond to help make cricket happen.

This year, there is a brand new category sponsored by Metro Bank for those championing girls’ cricket at clubs. The Cricket Collective Awards have also joined together with the Coach Awards, so at the end of the season we are able to celebrate more people delivering recreational cricket than ever before.

A judging panel, as selected by Essex Cricket in the Community, will sit towards the end of August to select a shortlist of nominations to attend our Cricket Collective Awards event which will take place on day 3 of the Vitality County Championship Division 1 fixture against Nottinghamshire at The Cloud County Ground on Wednesday 11th September 2024, where the county winners will be announced.

Please make every effort to nominate deserving volunteers from cricket clubs. There are many hard-working volunteers, members and officials across the County without whom the game would not survive.
