Essex CCC are delighted to announce the loan signing of Will Rhodes from Yorkshire for the remainder of the Specsavers County Championship campaign.
The 21-year-old will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s game against Derbyshire and look to make valuable contributions as the season progresses.
The young all-rounder made his List A and T20 debuts for Yorkshire during the 2013 season.
A left-handed bat and right-arm medium-fast bowler, Rhodes is an exciting product of the Yorkshire academy and captained England at the 2014 ICC U19 World Cup.
Chris Silverwood is thrilled that Rhodes decided to join the club and said: “Will is an exciting young all-rounder who we hope will contribute with both bat and ball for the remainder of the season.
“He is very highly thought of at Yorkshire but they are keen for him to get out and play some red-ball cricket, so we are pleased he decided to join the club. He will go straight into the squad for Saturday and we will pick a team according to the conditions.”
Yorkshire Director of Cricket Martyn Moxon felt it is a great chance for the all-rounder to play regular cricket.
He added: “We feel, as does Will, that this is a great opportunity to play first-team cricket and to improve as a player.
“It will be a great experience for him and hopefully will help to develop him further as an all-round cricketer.”
