Essex Disability Captain To Tour With England

Lee Walker, Captain of Essex Disability team, has been selected to play in the England Physical Disabilities squad to tour Dubai.

England Physical Disability will head to Dubai later this month to compete in the ICC Academy Dubai Invitational T20 tournament for people with physical disability.
The competition, which runs from 19 to 25 October, will see Afghanistan, Bangladesh, England and Pakistan compete for the prize. The England squad will be looking to defend the title they won in Bangladesh last year.

Lee has been captain of the Essex team since it started in 2010, and has been a key role behind the development of the team and the on field success. For the past couple of years Lee has been involved in the Regional talent development centre before making the step to the Lions team in 2016 and now getting a well-deserved place in the full squad for the upcoming tour.

Everyone from the club wishes Lee well with the tour and with his England career.

Essex currently have 2 County teams. Each year the teams are showing huge signs of improvement, this year making the semi-final in the hardball competition and the final of the incrediball competition.

Paul Walter signs one-year contract extension

Essex CCC are delighted to announce Paul Walter has signed a one-year contract extension which will see him remain at the club until the end of the 2018 campaign.

All-rounder Walter signed his first professional contract in June having impressed the coaching staff and has shown enough development in recent weeks to be awarded an extension.

After taking the new ball in the latter stages of the NatWest T20 Blast competition and then making his first-class debut against Derbyshire in August, the 22-year-old will look to further press his claims in the first team picture in the coming years.

Walter was thrilled to sign an extension and said: “I am delighted to extend my contract at the club.

“Although I haven’t been part of the staff for long it has always been a dream of mine to play for Essex so the opportunity to do that for a further year was something I jumped at.”
